/AfroChat/
Most AI platforms are built for the West. AfroChat was built for everyone else — localised, lightweight, and actually usable where bandwidth is a real constraint.
African users were getting locked out of the generative AI wave — not because of lack of interest, but because every major platform assumed fast internet, full storage, and a Western cultural lens. I developed AfroChat from the ground up: a complete AI platform with image generation, conversational personas, and Telegram integration so users could access it through a messaging app they already had installed.
/Project Goals/
Deliver a production-ready AI platform that works on low-bandwidth connections, through Telegram, and with cultural context built in — not bolted on.
The brief was clear: don't just port a Western AI tool to Africa. Build something that fits how people actually connect in that market. That meant Telegram-first access for regions where installing apps is a barrier, mobile-first design for device constraints, and image generation that understands African cultural context rather than defaulting to generic Western outputs.
/Results/
Fully launched platform live at afrochat.app — serving users across multiple access channels with zero compromise on features.
AfroChat launched with text-to-image generation, multiple AI personas, a content gallery, user auth, and full Telegram bot integration. Users can generate images, hold AI conversations, and access every feature through web or Telegram depending on their connection. The platform runs fast on constrained networks and scales without restructuring the architecture.
